How Commissions and Payouts Work

As a referral partner on Formsuite, you earn commissions when new customers subscribe to a paid plan using your referral link. This article explains how commissions and payouts work, their statuses, and when you can expect to be paid.

Commission tiers

Formsuite uses a tiered commission structure based on your total number of conversions:

  • Standard (0–24 conversions): 20% of net subscription revenue per sale for 1 year.
  • Partner (25+ conversions): 50% of net subscription revenue per sale for 1 year.

Once you reach 25 or more total conversions, the higher commission rate applies to all eligible commissions going forward. You can view your current tier and conversion count on your Referral dashboard.

Commission statuses

When you receive a commission, it goes through the following statuses:

  • Pending: The initial status for a commission. Due to our 30-day holding period, commissions stay in "pending" status for at least 30 days before becoming eligible for payout.
  • Approved: When a commission has passed the holding period and been added to a payout, its status changes from "pending" to "approved."
  • Paid: When the payout containing the commission has been sent to your connected bank account, the commission is updated to "paid" status.

Commissions can also be updated to these statuses in certain cases:

  • Refunded: If the sale was refunded. This is typically detected automatically via our Stripe integration.
  • Canceled: If the sale was canceled or voided (e.g., in cases of self-referrals where commissions are not eligible).

If you have questions about a commission status, reach out to our support team.

Payout statuses

Payouts go through the following statuses:

  • Pending: Commissions are accrued under a payout entry. Your payout will need to reach our minimum payout threshold to become eligible for payment.
  • Processing: When we initiate a payout to you, it enters "processing" until the payment settles. This can take up to 5 business days.
  • Paid: Once the payout has been sent to your connected bank account. Depending on your bank, funds may take 1–14 business days to arrive.

To receive payouts, you must connect your bank account via Stripe Connect from your Referral dashboard. Go to workspace Settings → Referrals and follow the "Connect payouts" flow once you have at least one sale.

What does "holding period" mean?

Formsuite uses a 30-day holding period for earned commissions. During this period, your commissions stay in "pending" status and are not eligible for payout.

This is standard practice for security and fraud prevention, and to account for potential refunds or chargebacks from referred customers. Each commission becomes eligible for payout only after the full 30 days have elapsed from the date it was earned.

When will I get paid?

Payouts are processed monthly, typically at the beginning of each month. Eligible commissions from the previous month (those that have passed the 30-day holding period) are included in the payout. If you have questions about the exact payment schedule, contact our support team.
