Using the AI Chat Assistant

The AI Chat Assistant is your personal form-building sidekick. Instead of clicking through menus and settings, you simply tell the AI what you want in plain English and it makes it happen. It can also answer questions about how Formsuite works and point you to helpful articles and videos.

Opening the AI Chat Assistant

You can open the AI Chat Assistant from two places:

  • Click the conversation counter — Tap the conversation counter in the editor to open the AI chat popup directly.
  • Type in the AI input — Start typing in the AI input field below the form preview and submit your message. The AI chat popup will open automatically with your request.

Once opened, you'll see a chat interface where you can type requests or questions. The assistant remembers your conversation history for each form, so you can pick up where you left off.

Building & Editing Your Form

The AI Chat Assistant can handle most form-building tasks. Here are some examples of what you can ask:

  • Add questions: "Add an email question after the welcome screen" or "Add 5 feedback rating questions"
  • Update content: "Change the welcome screen title to 'Welcome to Our Survey'" or "Change the button text to 'Let's Go!'"
  • Reorder questions: "Move the email question before the name question"
  • Remove questions: "Remove the phone number question"
  • Set up logic: "If someone chooses 'Other', skip to the final question"
  • Add a logo: "Add my company logo to the form" — upload or reference a logo and the AI will place it for you.
  • Change colors & themes: "Use a warm earthy color palette" or "Give me a professional corporate theme". The AI can suggest complete color themes or adjust individual colors.
  • Change fonts: "Switch to a modern sans-serif font" or "Use Playfair Display for headings".
  • Change element themes: "Make the buttons pill-shaped" or "Use a minimal input style". Adjust the look and feel of individual form elements.
  • Change layouts: "Use a side-by-side layout on desktop" or "Stack everything vertically on mobile". The AI can adjust layouts for both desktop and mobile independently.
  • Find suggested media: The AI can search Unsplash and Pexels for curated, high-quality images that match your form's topic. Just ask: "Find a professional background image for a real estate form" or "Add relevant images to all my questions".
  • @ mention questions: Type @ in the chat to see a list of all questions in your form. Select one to reference it directly, so the AI knows exactly which question you're talking about. For example: "Move @What's your email? to after @Full Name" — no ambiguity, no guessing.

Reviewing Proposed Changes

When the AI makes changes to your form, it doesn't apply them immediately. Instead, it shows you a list of proposed changes as a checklist. Each change shows a before-and-after diff so you can see exactly what will change.

You also get a live preview of your form with the proposed changes applied, so you can navigate through it and test how it looks and feels before committing.

  • Apply Changes — Saves all proposed changes to your form draft.
  • Discard — Throws away the proposed changes without affecting your form.

After applying or discarding, you can continue the conversation and ask for more changes.

Getting Support & Help

The AI Chat Assistant isn't just for building — it's also your in-app help desk. You can ask it anything about Formsuite:

  • "How do I set up conditional logic?"
  • "How do I embed my form on a website?"
  • "How do I share my form?"
  • "What's the difference between drafts and publishing?"

The AI will provide a helpful answer, link to the relevant help article, and show a video tutorial if one is available.

Tips for Best Results

  • Be specific: "Add a rating question asking about customer satisfaction with 5 stars" works better than "add a question".
  • Reference existing questions: You can mention questions by name, like "Move 'What's your email?' after the welcome screen".
  • Iterate freely: The AI conversation persists between sessions, so you can come back later and continue refining.
  • Ask for bulk changes: "Add images to all my questions" or "Make all questions required" — the AI handles bulk operations efficiently.

Free Plan Limits

The AI Chat Assistant is available on all plans. Free plan users get 10 build/edit messages and 10 support messages per form. Paid plans include unlimited AI chat usage. If you hit the limit, you'll see an upgrade prompt with options to continue.
